湖北省博物馆筹建于1953年，是湖北省唯一的省级综合性博物馆，也是全省最重要的文物收藏、研究和展示机构，是国家旅游局4A级旅游景区(点)，其前身是建国之初成立的湖北省人民科学馆。

1953年3月16日经省人民政府批准，在原科学馆的基础上，成立湖北省博物馆(筹备处)，筹备处位于水陆街，1956年迁至武昌水果湖，1960年迁至风景秀丽的武昌东湖之滨，1963年1月正式更名为湖北省博物馆，

3000平方米的陈列楼建成并对外开放；

1999年1月，建筑面积5717平方米的编钟馆建成开放；2005年12月，楚文化馆建成开放；

2007年9月，新馆综合陈列馆建成开放。

On March 16, 1953, with the approval of the provincial people's Government, Hubei Provincial Museum (Preparatory Office) was established on the basis of the original Science Museum. The preparatory office was located in Shuilu Street, moved to Wuchang Fruit Lake in 1956, moved to the shore of the beautiful Wuchang East Lake in 1960, and officially changed its name to Hubei Provincial Museum in January 1963. 3,000 square meters of exhibition building completed and open to the public;

In January 1999, the building area of 5717 square meters of chime Hall was completed and opened;

In December 2005, the Chu Cultural Center was completed and opened.

In September 2007, the new comprehensive exhibition hall was completed and opened.

微水泥材料大面积应用到博物馆等公共场所，兼顾了美观抗污与耐用防磕碰的功能性。

微水泥同时应用到博物馆的条凳，展台家具的装饰，用最低的成本营造出灰色混凝土的微水泥质感，复古而厚重。

本色白色微水泥同样不失质感，保持纯净的同时，耐磕碰耐刮花可冲洗，满足博物馆高人流通行的需求。
